Established in 1857 by the former Maharaja of Travancore, originally opened for recreational activities, the zoo became a conservation centre for wildlife over a period of time. Thiruvananthapuram Zoo is one of the major spots in Trivandrum city. It has a wide array of 35 species of animals, 28 species of birds and 17 kinds of reptiles. After breakfast, head for a full day excursion to Kanyakumari. Visit the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Arulmigu Bhagavathy Amman Temple. Drive back to Kovalam.

The Shripada Mandapam has a study hall and a museum, where you can explore Vivekananda's life and work in depth. Arulmigu Bhagavathy Amman Temple is one of the most sacred temples in India and considered as one of the 108 Shakti Peethas. Dedicated to Goddess Devi Kanya Kumari, the temple dates back to more than 3000 years.
