Thailand’s capital, and the capital of fun to all its tourists, Bangkok is a large city known for its exuberant nightlife and its known for being the synonym of happiness for a large number of people, including me. I’m always down for a trip to this city, and why not? This city has given me reasons to come back again and again-cheap yet trendy shopping, absolutely yum local food, fun locals, thrilling amusement parks, a lot of wildlife and countless “insta-worthy” photo opportunities and roads bustling with colourful tuk-tuks. But apart from being the party hub, you’ll also be able to visit some extremely religious Buddha temples and ornate shrines.
You can take an unconventional food tour on a tuk-tuk, where you'll take cooking classes and will learn fruit-carving. You’ll be able to understand how vast Thai cuisine is, and will be able to try a lot of dishes you’ve probably never heard of (and I’m not talking about basic Thai food like a green curry or maybe a pad Thai)-crab stuffed omelettes, chicken satay skewers, fried flat noodles. Is your mouth watering because mine surely is.
If you're a shopping junkie like I am, the MBK Centre will fill your heart with happiness because you'll find just everything here. Apart from your basic-known brands, you’ll be able to get your hands on some of the most unconventional electronic gadgets that you won’t be able to find anywhere else. The last time I was in MBK, I got myself this super cute Hello Kitty mobile phone for as less as 600 THB. And to my surprise, bartering was a very common phenomena around here. I honestly think a trip to Bangkok is incomplete without a little (maybe a lot considering you won’t be able to resist the cheap prices) shopping at MBK. A lesser-spoken-about place to shop at in Bangkok is an authentic floating market. The Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market is 17 kms away from the city, and you will be able to buy locally produced food and locally grown flowers.
Bangkok is home to a plethora of tourist destinations but the two tourist attractions that caught my eye were the Dream World Amusement Park and the Safari World & Marine Park. Dream World has a bunch of fast and thrilling rides to please all the adrenaline-rush seekers out there, a snow park where you can beat the heat, a parade of various cartoon characters towards the evening, and water rides that will leave you totally drenched. The highlight of the Safari World & Marine Park was that I was able to meet polar bears, feed the giraffes, play with leopard cubs, feed tiger cubs, witness orang-utan boxing and see beautiful lions in their wild habitat.
I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of this place because its one of the easiest go-to destinations for getaway holidays.
